Search for and Select a Patient

1. From the Search menu, select Patients.

2. With the Name dropdown selected, enter at least one letter of the patient's First Name or at least one letter of the patient's Surname. You can also optionally enter the patient's Date of Birth.

   Wildcard searches are supported—see Wildcard Searching for details.



3. Select Search.

   Matching patients are shown in the Patient Search Results.

   Patient Search Results display the IHI number (if it exists for each patient).

   Other information that is included in the Patient Search Results include:

   • Patient Flags: (if any) See Regulatory Patient Profile for details.

   • Record Type: displays an icon indicating whether the record is transactional, regulatory, or linked. See Patient Record types for details.

   

4. Click a patient to view their SafeScript profile.

If you know the patient's Patient Id, you can use this to search for their record.

1. From the Search menu, select Patients.

2. With the Name dropdown selected, enter the Patient Id.

   You can only enter numbers in the Patient Id field.

3. Select Search.

   Matching patients are shown in the Patient Search Results.

   Patient Search Results display the IHI number (if it exists for each patient).

   Other information that is included in the Patient Search Results include:

   • Patient Flags: (if any) See Regulatory Patient Profile for details.

   • Record Type: displays an icon indicating whether the record is transactional, regulatory, or linked. See Patient Record types for details.

To help you find a patient's record, particularly when you are unsure of the spelling of their name, you can use wildcards. Refer to the table below for examples.

Within the Patient Search Results section, there is a column labelled Record Type.
